Boston Book Festival 2025: Motherland and other books

Yesterday I was at the Boston Book Festival. It is an annual event and a great platform to connect with authors, readers and publishers.

I attended a session “ Women and Revolution: Stories from Iran and. Russia” with Fatemeh Jamalpour and Julia Ioffe. Both authors had recently published books about women in the Iranian and Russian societies. In a candid conversation with the audience they discussed the books and how the role of women is impacted by politics and social fabric of societies, and draw parallels with the perception of women’s place in the US.

BBF offered a full day of great sessions with authors. Below are two books recommended by one of my student from the authors who also attended BBF.

After taste by Daria Lavelle

Lost Souls of Leningrad by Suzanne Perry

I have just ordered my copy of Morherland and look forward to reading all three books!

Happy reading!
